Filipino Veterans of World War II Honored in New York

NEW YORK, 10 September 2018– Fifteen (15) Filipino World War II veterans were honored in a ceremony organized by the Philippine Consulate General headed by Consul General Claro S. Cristobal and the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project (FilVetREP) led by General Antonio Taguba (ret.) held at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center on 8 September 2018.

NY Consulate General features Project Saysay for Heroes Day

New York, 28 August 2018 – In commemoration of National Heroes Day, the Philippine Consulate General in New York displayed the Project Saysay posters of Filipino heroes from 27 August to 5 September 2018 at the Lobby Gallery of the Philippine Center.

“Women of the Weeping River” featured at the Closing Night of Sinehan sa Summer 2018 in New York

New York, 29 August 2018 – Sinehan sa Summer 2018 Edition, closed the series with a powerful indie film about women caught in the middle of a clan war, struggling against their cultural norms to find a solution to their brutal situation. “Women of the Weeping River” is set in a remote community in Zamboanga and Jolo, Sulu with the river serving as the demarcation line between two families caught in a generations-long blood feud.

“Alamat and Awitan” Highlight Buwan ng Wika in New York

NEW YORK, 25 August 2018 – Dubbed “Kwentuhang Pambata” or Children’s Story Time, the Philippine Consulate General in New York’s celebration of Buwan ng Wika was held on Saturday, 25 August 2018 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center. The event was attended by about 30 Filipino-American children ages 3 to 12 years old.
